Quercus x carrosioana
Quercus x carrosioana
The striking leaves on this tree are large and shallowly lobed with a shiny green upper and glaucous underside. The trunk is dark grey and deeply fissured as the tree matures. These examples are seed-grown from an established Quercus canariensis specimen at the nursery which holds its leaves most of the winter. There is likely to be a degree of hybridisation with common oaks but the trees we’re offering look like the parent and will likely inherit its characteristics. A fast-growing tree on both clay and chalk soils. The North African origins of Q, canariensis may also make this tree better suited to hotter drier summers than our native Quercus robur.
